Mission Statement:
The mission of this department is to serve the LSC campus community... it's staff, faculty, students and visitors ... by preserving life, upholding human and civil rights, ensuring safety, regulating parking and traffic on campus, protecting campus and personal property, educating and promoting individual responsibility for personal security and safety among the afore mentioned campus members. The department is responsible for providing a safe, secure environment to study and work free from racial, religious, sexual, and domestic harassment, intimidation, threats or violence. All acts of violence or threats will be viewed as serious. When such rights are infringed upon, the director of security shall immediately see that a full investigation is conducted and attempt to identify the perpetrators, arrest them, and bring them before a court of law. LSC Security officers shall be observant of safety concerns in and outside campus buildings and shall report hazards, issue warnings or tickets and act on emergency situations as required by the incident within their means. The department of security and parking shall ensure that all roadways, drives, trails, parking lots/areas, sidewalks, entrances, smoking and grassy areas are secure, maintained and safe. Security and parking officers shall be responsible for enforcing LSC traffic and parking guidelines fairly and without prejudice. Our officers are committed to provide community-oriented, sensitive law enforcement service; to protect LSC and Duluth city ordinances, MN state statutes, U.S. federal law and civil rights in an effort to provide an environment conducive to the pursuit of educational goals and personal growth.
