Lake Superior College Announces 2007 Lake Superior Writers' Series 

(Duluth, Minn.) --- Lake Superior College (LSC) will host a series of readings with author receptions and workshops by Minnesota writers.  All events are free and open to the public.  Pre-registration is required for the workshops. Duluth News Tribune journalist, editor, and columnist Jim Heffernan

Jim Heffernan retired a year ago after 42 years at the Duluth News Tribune. In that span he worked as a reporter, city editor, arts editor and theater/music critic and associate editor of the editorial pages. For the past 33 years he has written a humor/personal reflections column in the newspaper, which continues today. He is a native Duluthian, educated in Duluth Public Schools and a graduate of the University of Minnesota Duluth

Poet and teacher Ryan Vine

Native Duluthian Ryan Vine, an assistant professor of English at the College of St. Scholastica, will read poems from his debut chapbook, "Distant Engines." The collection is the winner of the 2005 Weldon Kees Award and was recently released from Backwaters Press.  Most recently, Garrison Keillor read Ryan's work on the Minnesota Public Radio's Writer's Almanac.
