Receiving Your Financial Aid Funds
I have received an award letter. When do I receive my money?
Students cannot receive their financial aid funds until after the drop-add period each term. During this time, students are able to add and drop courses without penalty. After the 5-day drop-add period has ended, your charges are finalized and grants are placed on your account based on the number of credits for which you are enrolled. You will be mailed a check shortly thereafter if there are any remaining funds available. Students normally receive their funds by the beginning of the third week of the term.
If you are borrowing loans, the dates that the loans will be disbursed to the college are listed on the disclosure statement that you receive from the Guarantee Agency. Your loan should be placed on your account the Tuesday after the date listed on the disclosure statement, with any additional funds being mailed to you shortly thereafter.
I didn't get as much money back as I thought I would. How can I check?
Once your financial aid has been placed on your account, you can check your student account at http://www.lsc.edu/FinancialAid/ckStuAcct.cfm. This site shows the total amount of your charges and the total amount of financial aid you received for the term. It also lists the amount of any excess funding that was sent to you.Compare the financial aid amounts to your award letter. Please note that if you borrowed a student loan, a 3% processing fee has been subtracted by the Guarantee Agency.
If you feel that you should have received more Minnesota Grant than what is on your account, please double-check the Minnesota Grant grid at the bottom of the second page of your award letter. Your eligibility for Minnesota Grant changes depending on the number of credits for which you are enrolled.
If it still does not make sense, stop by the Enrollment Services Center or e-mail us at enroll@lsc.mnscu.edu.
