What is Stafford loan entrance and exit counseling?
Stafford loan entrance counseling is an electronic method about the Stafford loan you are about to borrow. Stafford loan exit counseling reminds you about your repayment obligations and your rights as a Stafford loan borrower. The entrance counseling is required before you can borrow a Stafford loan. The exit counseling is required once you graduate or stop attending at least half time.

How do I know if I have to complete the Stafford loan entrance or exit counseling session?
For entrance counseling, you will receive instructions within the Stafford online loan application if there is no record of entrance counseling for you. You will then be directed to the entrance counseling site. For the exit counseling, you will receive notice via mail or your LSC e-mail stating that you must complete exit counseling.

How do I complete the Stafford loan entrance or exit counseling?
There is an entrance and exit counseling link from the LSC financial aid homepage. You will then visit the Mapping Your Future web page and click on the Online Student Loan Counseling icon. You can go through this session anytime, anywhere - from home, from a computer lab, and even in another country.

Will the school know that I have done the Stafford loan entrance or exit counseling?
Yes. Once the borrower has completed all the questions correctly, he or she completes an online form to provide information to the school. The borrower reviews the information submitted on the form, confirms that all is correct, and clicks the submit button and an electronic copy is sent directly to the school.

What proof do I have to confirm that I have completed the Stafford entrance or exit counseling?
The borrower receives a confirmation number and a page summarizing the information submitted and the rights and responsibilities statement. The borrower should print this page or make a note of the confirmation number.
