Student Support Services

Student Support Services (SSS), a program funded by the U. S. Department of Education, was first authorized in 1968.  SSS provides academic support and resources that enhance educational success at no cost.  Students selected to participate in the SSS Program must meet one or more of the following eligibilty requirements:   

First Generation:
A first generation college student is one whose parent(s) has/have not earned a Bachelor's degree (a four-year college degree). Students whose parent(s) has/have earned an Associates' degree (two-year degree) are eligible.

Income:
The student must meet certain income guidelines established by the U. S. Department of Education.  Income guidelines are listed on the SSS application.


Disability:
Students must have documentation on file with Lake Superior College's Coordinator of Disabilty Services.

 

Other:
In addition, a student must be seeking an AA (Associate of Arts) degree with plans to transfer to a 4-year college/university.

 

Students must complete an application to determine program eligibity.
