Lake Superior College Offers Spring Late Start Online Courses

(Duluth, Minn.) -- Potential college students who missed the start of spring semester have another opportunity to enroll this March, thanks to a late start program offered by the Lake Superior College (LSC) Virtual Campus.  Special registration form available.

LSC will offer five online college courses starting in mid-March.  The courses are widely transferable and also apply as electives to many LSC programs.  All of the courses are offered via the Internet to provide maximum flexibility for students.

According to Barry Dahl, LSC's vice president of technology and the Virtual Campus, the courses offer students a chance to get a head start on their college careers.  "Individuals who weren't ready to make a commitment in January but are ready now can use this opportunity to take care of required courses and electives, rather than wait for the summer session or fall term."

The courses begin on March 20 and conclude on May 11, 2006 on an eight-week schedule.  The course material will be covered in half the time, Dahl explained.  Completing six credits in the shorter time span will require the same daily work load as a 12-credit commitment during a standard semester.

The late start courses are currently available for registration. The courses are:

 ·        ENGL 1106 (sec. 65): College Composition I

·        COMM 1105 (sec. 65): Interpersonal Communications

·        HLTH 1430 (sec. 65): Personal Wellness

·        SOC 1111 (sec. 65): Introduction to Sociology

·        PHYS 1101 (sec 65): Introduction to Astronomy

Special late-start course registration form is now available. (CORRECTION: all students, including currently enrolled students should use the special registration form.)

Contact the LSC Virtual Campus at 218-733-2030 or virtual@lsc.edu for general information about online courses at LSC.  For help with registration or admittance, contact LSC's Student Services Office at enroll@lsc.edu or 218-733-7601.
