Part 1. Policy Statement
Subpart A. Tuition and Fee Due Date Lake Superior College establishes tuition payment deadlines each semester. Tuition is due at the time of registration for anyone enrolling in late start classes after the 5th day of the semester. It is the students responsibility to check their balance due online or in person at the Student Payment Office. No invoices or tuition statements will be mailed. The student account will be adjusted if tuition and fees are not established at the time of registration.
Students who have not paid their tuition by the published payment deadline WILL be dropped from all of their classes unless at least one of the following three conditions has been met by the payment deadline:
1. The student meets the minimum financial aid progress requirement by having:
a. FAFSA results received by the college from the U.S. Department of
Education, or
b. a formal inter-college consortium agreement in place.
2. The student has submitted the payment in full or established a payment plan with FACTS e-Cashier for the remaining balance. Such payments may be made by:
a. Cash
b. Check
c. Credit Card
d. Advance scholarship payment or scholarship notice
e. Third Party Billing Authorization
f. MnSCU employee tuition waiver
3. The student is enrolled in the Post Secondary Enrollment Option (PSEO) program AND has completed and submitted the PSEO form to the college. This form must be completed and submitted prior to each semester.
4. The student is formally approved for a military benefit sufficient to cover the cost of tuition and fees. Students must appear on the official campus veterans list prior to the tuition due date.
Subpart B. Payment Plans
Lake Superior College offers tuition payment plans through a partnership with FACTS Management Company, Inc. The service is called e-Cashier and allows students the ability to arrange automatic tuition payments from a checking account, savings account, or a credit card. Click the e-Cashier icon to enroll or receive additional information.
Subpart C. Refunds for Dropped Classes Students are entitled to have the opportunity to attend one class session for each registered, for-credit course, without obligation. Subject to the refund for full withdrawal provision of Subpart D, students are obligated for any classes dropped after the fifth business day of the term, or one business day after the first class session, whichever is later. For purposes of this policy, business days are defined as Monday through Friday (excluding posted holidays).
For courses less than three weeks in length, the College has established no-obligation drop-and-refund period of no more than one business day after the first class session for each registered, for-credit course.
If a fee for a dropped class is for the recovery of costs already incurred by the College, refund of such fees is the decision of the President or designee.
Tuition and Personal Property Fee No refund of tuition and personal property fee shall be provided to a student who reduces credit hours, but does not withdraw from all courses, after the drop/add period.
Student Life and State Student Organization Fees
The student life fee and state student organization fee are nonrefundable.
Fees Paid from a Financial Aid Source If the student's fees were paid from a financial aid source, the refund is returned to the financial aid program, not the student.
