Financial Aid Process
How long before I hear something after I've filed my FAFSA?
There is a section on FAFSA on the Web that allows you to check on the progress of your application. Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov Choose "Check status of a submitted FAFSA" to determine if your application has been processed. Once it has been processed, you can print out a Student Aid Report (SAR) from the same site. This allows you to view what you submitted and determine if you have been chosen for a process called verification.
Your information will be downloaded to LSC. Once it is received, there may be more information that we need from you. If so, we will contact you. This normally occurs within three weeks from the time you filed the FAFSA.
Once all information is received, an award letter is generated. The award letter lists the types of financial aid you are eligible to receive. However, because of processing updates that need to be made to our computer system every award year, award letters are normally not mailed until after May 1 of each year.
