International Education Committee

Meeting Minutes: December 1, 2004

  • Program Information

Michele passed around information that she received on a study abroad program in France.

There is a conference on travel/study abroad programs during turbulent times in San Diego in February, 2005.

  • Promotion of Other Institutions' Travel/Study Abroad Programs.

Michele proposed that we request a having a bulletin board put-up so we can display various travel/study abroad opportunities. It was discussed that the area around the Multicultural Center's future display case would be a good location.

There was a discussion at the previous St. Cloud conference that there is interest in forming a collaborative website for all of the study abroad/travel programs that are presented by MNSCU schools. There will be a letter from St. Cloud that will go to the MNSCU administrators to have International Education mentioned in the mission statement. Michele will forward a copy of that letter to the members of the International Education Committee.

  • Handbook

Jim distributed a revised version of the International Travel Handbook. Any revisions or suggestions need to be given to Jim by Friday, December 3. The handbook is on the agenda of the Executive Committee meeting scheduled for December 16 th.

  • Travel Program/Study Abroad Proposals

All proposals for international education programs must come to the International Education Committee prior to review by Candace Barnack. The committee discussed formalizing the proposals. The topic was tabled until the next meeting.

  • China Summer Program

The committee discussed the China Summer Program for 2005 and supported the program.

  • Other Business

The next meeting will take place in spring semester. The time, date, and location are still to be determined.
