My Computerized Placement Test (CPT)
The purpose of the CPT and ASAP is proper placement into reading, writing, math and study skills classes. Your score in each area on the test (reading comprehension, sentence skills and math) indicates whether or not you need any "refresher courses" prior to starting your program.
The need of refresher courses is determined by the program.
The level that you need to achieve in each of these areas is determined by the program or major you indicated on your application to LSC. This means that if you change your major or program during your time at LSC you will need to check your placement scores with an advisor to ensure you are at the levels required by your new program.
Placement into refresher courses based on your scores is mandatory. You must follow your placements and they may limit your course selection in your program.
It is essential that you continuously check the prerequisites for the classes you are signing up for to make sure you meet the required placements.As you plan your schedule you will need to plan for any needed refreshers first.
